Iran saffron exports increase 55 pct

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran’s saffron exports increased by 55 percent during the current fiscal year (started March 21).
According to Iranian Customs statistics of foreign trade, during the first quarter of this year more than 56 tones of any kinds of saffron worth $77,401 million were exported.
Iran`s saffron has been exported to 46 countries across the world, which $22 million of the amount has just earned from export to United Arab Emirates.
Due to the statistics, each grams of the saffron was exported worth $1.37 during the period, comparing to the same period of last year that the volume of the exported saffron was 36 tons worth $47.758 million.
Thus, exports of saffron in the first quarter of this year grew by 55% and 58% in volume and value respectively compared to the same period of last year.
